PMHNP Preceptorship

At Soulence, we are passionate about contributing to the education of future Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) by providing valuable hands-on learning opportunities. We offer preceptorships for graduate students in the PMHNP field.

The term “preceptorship” refers to the required clinical hours students must complete as part of their PMHNP program. Since this is a graduate-level course, applicants must already have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. During their preceptorship, students typically start by observing their preceptor (a licensed PMHNP) and eventually assist with patient evaluations under supervision. At Soulence, students are never responsible for interviewing patients or making independent clinical decisions. Additionally, patient consent is required for student involvement in care, and any patient may choose not to participate in the educational program. While not every patient may want to take part, many find it rewarding to help shape the next generation of mental health professionals. Our patients play a vital role in this learning process and are truly our best teachers.
